Historic Bethel A. M. E. Church,
was crowded on Monday evening, No-
yember 14th to hear the Wilberforce
‘University Singers who appeared in a
concert in which they made a fine
impression. It was the first of a series
of concerts that the singers gave in
this vicinity, and the large audience
present many of whom were former
students and graduates of Wilberforce
gave the singers a splendid reception.

very fine Christian Bishop,—Bishop P.

and made a very fine impression upon
our Bishops, and all present. He, to
us, is a Brother beloved, and should
our General conference vote for the
Union American M, E. Church, and
the African M. E. Church, to unite,
and constitute one Body, I want that

joy, the words found in Eph. 3:17,

knowledge, that ye might be filled with
all the fullness of God.”
This benefit is not for a favored few,
but for “all saints.” The Lord God
would have all His children grow up
in the full statue of Jesus Christ. What
is the “Breadth?” Can you measure
it? What does the love of God in--
clude? How wide is it?
“There’s a wideness in God’s mercy,
Like the wideness of the sea;
There's a kindness in His justice,
Which is more than Liberty.”
And now, “The length of it.” Some
people love for a little while, but their
love does not last long. The domestic
love, the love of country and “the like
does not last long. How long will the
fove of God last? He loved us from
the beginning, and will love us to the
end. “Yea, I have loved you with an
everlasting love,” you can never out-
fine the love of God, The breadth, and
length of it cannot be measured,
Again, let me in the name of the

greet you, and congratulate you, Let
me pledge you our word of faith, that
we are praying, and working for the

OUR DISTINGUISHED LEADERS
Sitting in the shade of the old china-
_ berry~tree under Southern skies my
' memory awakens while sitting thus,
and a-mirage like a panorama passes
before me. I see or seem to see the
leaders, the directors of the grand old
| A.M.E. Church. I see the Bishops
and General Officers as I saw and now
see them in the years long ago before
they filled the positions they now fill
the church, Here they go on the
"screen of my memory:
Bishop Flipper; When I knew him as
_ Dean Flipper and as President Flipper
- of Morris Brown College, and as Chair-
man of the Episcopal Committee. 1
member the loving cup that was pre.
sented to him by the Episcopal Com-
ittee in Chicago in 1940 after his
ction to the Bishopric. I was among
the first to invite him to Boston, Ga.
at the request of the white and colored
citizens. Bishop Flipper will linger
long in my memory and will never be
forgotten by me for it was he that put
me on the A.C.E, League Board and

TOGETHER AT THE BIBLE HOUSE
From left to right—top row: G. B. Cameron, J. J. Morgan, A. F. Ragatz, J. L. McLaughlin, R. W. Bayless, S. R.
McCurdy, M. L. Vaughters, David Evans, L. S. Strickland, M. L.. Robinson, J. S. N. Tross.
Seated: E. A. Dame, G. G. Dilworth, B. H. Smith, D. H_, Stanton, President John. T. Manson, I.
E. €. Powers, A. J. Allen, E. A.
S. McElroy,
on the Hymn Book commission and
appointed me Presiding Elder.
Bishop Fountain: I remember him
first as Dr. Fountain. 1 remember
one night at Wilberforce, when our
President, Dr. E. W. Lee, who had
just died and we needed a man, when
Drs. Fountain, T, N. M. Smith and
the writer walked across the lawn to
the home of Dr. Scarborough to see
Bishop Smith about appointing Dr.
Fountain to the presidency of Morris
Brown College. I remember him as
president of Morris Brown College, and
the night of his election to the Bish-
opric, I remember those days of the
Institute in Alabama and especially the
pleasant afternoon that we spent to-
gether on the lawn of the church in
Prattsville, Ala, talking of the future.
Many of the things that we talked have
and are now coming to pass here in
Ga. He is doing more for the church
than was even dreamed of then. I was
a visitor then, I am one of his Pre-
siding Elders now, doing my bit to help
him put over his program.
Bishop Ransom: Looking back into
the past I see him as Dr. Ransom, Edi-
tor of the A.M.E. Review, I see him
one night at Wilberforce as he intro-
duced me to Bishop J. Albert Johnson.
I seem to hear him as he says he is a
brother of Bishop W. D. Johnson, but
he stands upon his own feet. The
morning after his election to the Bish-
opric, 1 remember what he said to me.
If he could remember what he said now
it would mean so much to me. Bishop
Ransom is an inspiration to me for he
is a great leader of the race.

grateful to our beloved Bishop and his
